Large archive belonging to Victoriano Calatayud Ruiz (born 1893) and his wife Carlota Ibars Claramont (born 1900), who owned several plantations in Basile, Fernando Poo. Hundreds of photos in 4 albums showing colonial life in Fernando Poo from the 1930’s to the 1960’s, with the bulk from the 50’s and 60’s. Much on relations with the local people, official ceremonies, colonial life. Many photos captioned. Numerous documents, dating from 1904-1980, relating to ownership of the plantations, of which they owned at least 3: “Buenavista”, “Victor Antonio” and “La Perla”. They had two children and their life from infancy to adulthood is shown. Victoriano was a successful farmer and received the Civil Order of Merit in Agriculture. Very rare to find almost anything on Fernando Poo.
