There are some rich collections on European and American popular culture with regard to the Japanese invasion in the 1930’s and  Chinese Civil War in the 1920’s accompanied by some obscure collections surrounding the Boxer Rebellion and foreign occupation.

Some of the missionary postcard collection dates from the Manchu period and is supplemented by actual obituaries of missionaries who served in China and Mongolia.

There is a rather large offering of European children’s books on China as well as cigarette cards produced in China
