Manchukuo and Occupied China
Meiji period (1890’s) military pass and paybook for a Japanese infantryman for the war in China between 1898-1904. Contains two photos, one of him and one of his brother in the cavalry. 8 manuscript pages and foldout page. His service record is as follows:
Meiji 32, March: heavy transport division, 2nd company, 1st battalion
Meiji 32, May: Full term and then disbanded.
Meiji 32, July: Call up for propaganda, followed by yearly call up.
Meiji 37, February: Heavy army, 2nd company. Supply Division, shipped to East Taiwan (Taichung). Landed in China (Tenkong), after that headed to Manchuria. During the war he headed up the Pearl River, Liau Yen, Yen Tai, Dairen, many battle areas, saw lots of action.
He served up to Meiji 38 (1904)
