ACTION GUM was hardly “The Greatest Card Series Ever Produced” (as Goudey Gum did claim on the back of every card), but it is popular among collectors. None of the 96 cards in the set refers to a wartime event, so it is believed that the date of the issue was 1938-1939. The color artwork and texts of Action Gum cards are bland when compared to War Gum and Horrors of War. Offered here is the complete set.

BGC 001
The “TIME MARCHES ON” series of 48 cards is dedicated to illustrating important events in the history of the United States, from the time of Columbus to the presidency of FDR. The cards are numbered 601-648 and were originally issued in strips, although from the smoothness of the sides it does not appear that there were machined perforations between individual cards. Backs are arranged vertically with the card number and set title repeated plus a description of the event depicted on the front, with a description on the back. The company which produced these cards has not yet been identified. The cards were produced shortly after the first inauguration of FDR.
