The former involved two hundred blacks, led by the French adventurer Fernando Odel, who escaped with other companions from Guiana and broke into the gold mines of the Cassipore region, trying to seize it and succeeding at first to expel the workers, after having thrown terror among the peaceful villagers. The lava cleaners of the nearby mines flocked, a real battle was engaged, ending with the flight of the daring adventurers. Odel was taken prisoner and transferred to the prisons of Belem. m
