Sanogo….which might be famed Bassirou Sanogo), footballers, army veterans and more. Also shown is a body of muslims at prayer, local cavalry at Sanogo, Haussa musicians, tam-tam at Teukodogo, travelling through Koudougou, Bella females, village cooking and weaving, girls’ school at Teukodogo, local hair dressing, Queen Mary College at Teukodogo on the 5th anniversary of the founding of the Republic. In 1961 the photo album owner crossed into Dahomey and met with the King of Abomey (Agoli Agbo Dedjalagni) who became ceremonial king of Dahomey from 1989-2019, group photo of the king, subjects and missionaries in front of the royal palace, local fetish, travelling upriver, local life in Northern Upper Volta, train station in Lome Togo, much more. 100 photos in all. NOTE: The "Haute Volta JOCF group" refers to the Upper Volta (now Burkina Faso) national football team before it was renamed in 1984. "JOCF" likely stands for "Jeunesse Ouvrière Chrétienne de France" (Young Christian Workers of France), which was a Catholic youth organization that played a role in the development of football in French West Africa, including Upper Volta.
